The NovIKrog Project

Changes for the Better

Climate change, the exploitation of natural resources, large amounts of waste that increase every year, interrupted supply chains due to crises such as Covid-19 and the war in Ukraine dictate urgent strategic changes in the operation of systems. Among other things, in the changes of the economy from a linear to a circular economy and from a global economy to a local economy.

In the NovIKroG Project, we will investigate the circulation of waste materials in the local environment and the potential of closing material flows with an emphasis on glass, wood, textiles and plastics. Our goal is to develop a material loop demonstrator in the local environment, which will result in at least two final products that meet the needs of public institutions and beyond.

As part of the project, we are planning a separate collection of individual materials (with an emphasis on plastic, glass, clothing and furniture) that will prove to be interesting for the design of products for circular public procurement. We will invite companies, public institutions and citizens to participate.

With the results, we will show that it is possible to implement circular models even in larger systems such as local and regional communities. New business opportunities will open up for the local economy, which will encourage employment among the local population, and with circular public procurement it will be possible to achieve greater effects in the transition to a circular economy and a sustainable society.
